China International Food Additives and Ingredients Exhibition (FIC2021) kicked off on June 8, 2021 at the Shanghai National Convention and Exhibition Center. This exhibition brought new products, new technologies, new formulas, and also presented a natural and healthy food feast.
1. Immunomodulatory functional food additives and ingredients
According to data, the market size of health care products for young and middle-aged people in China will reach 70.09 billion yuan in 2020, a year-on-year increase of 12.4%. It is expected that the market size will increase to 75.8 billion yuan in 2021, and the age of users has already developed towards a younger age. At the same time, health foods are developing in the direction of snacking and weight reduction. This has also promoted a significant increase in the sales of immune-regulating health food raw materials.
2. Sugar-free and low-sugar food additives and ingredients
The great harm caused by high sugar is the rapid increase of obese people. The obesity rate in the United States is as high as 38.2%, which is the country with the highest obesity rate in the world. The adult obesity rate in Mexico is as high as 32.4%. New Zealand is 30.7% and Hungary is 30%. Obesity has a major impact on the national economy and human capital, reducing productivity, shortening life expectancy, and increasing disability rates and health care costs.
In China, in recent years, the big sales of certain Internet celebrity beverages have promoted the prosperity of the upstream sugar-free raw material market. Sugar-free sweeteners such as erythritol and inulin are favored by manufacturers. It is expected that the low-sugar and sugar-free market will continue to grow at a relatively high rate of development.
3. Intestinal regulator probiotics, prebiotic products
Intestinal regulators mainly include probiotics and prebiotic products, which regulate the intestinal microecological environment through the flora. Data shows that the global probiotic market has reached 36 billion U.S. dollars in 2017, and health foods and medicines account for 8.6% of the global probiotic products. It is estimated that the global market value of probiotic dietary supplements will reach 8.8 billion U.S. dollars in 2020. The market size of China's probiotics in 2017 has reached 46 billion yuan, and it is expected to be close to 100 billion yuan by 2022, with an average annual growth rate of about 14%.
4. Plant extracts
Natural plant extracts are increasingly popular due to their safety, green, and health characteristics, and the demand for food additives and health ingredients is growing rapidly. Statistics show that the current global sales of plant extract products are about 6.5 billion US dollars. From the perspective of export, my country's plant extract product exports have maintained a long-term high-speed growth, with an average annual compound growth rate of about 17.5% in the past eight years. my country exports plant extract products to 133 countries and regions. According to the data analysis of the Medical Insurance Chamber of Commerce, the United States, Japan, India and Malaysia accounted for 76% of my country's total plant extract exports.
